Beaches
South Australia offers white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It might not be warm, but the scenery is stunning. Here are a few suggestion where to go … should you need a break from wine tasting.
-
Port Willunga Beach
Closest to home. 15min drive down the hill. Great Restaurant nearby called the “Star of Greece”.
-
Aldinga Beach
Next beach to the South of Port Willunga. Long beach. Walk or take your car onto the beach. Does get busy. “The Pearl” cafe/restaurant is near the carpark.
-
Port Elliot
30min drive to the south, this little bay is one of the premium weekend getaway areas for the locals from Adelaide. Squeaky sand, cafes and pubs. Whale spotting (May to Oct).
-
Normanville & Carracklinga
Popular holiday home spot. White sand, clearest water. Many local cafes and bakeries. 30min drive soutwest.
-
Victor Harbour
Strictly speaking not in the beach category, but worth mentioning here. This cute little seaside town is situated between the beaches of Port Elliot and Normanville. Worth the detour. Fairy Penguins call nearby Bluff Island their home. Tours available. Whales are seasonal.
